THE MEDIATION PROCESS

PLANNING

Schedule an appointment for a mediation session and we will send you a personalized planning kit with information about your case type (divorce, child custody, or guardianship) to help you organize the information you need to mediate your issues efficiently!

SCHEDULING

If you and your spouse/former partner are ready to move forward, you can schedule your mediation session by phone, email or using our online scheduler. FairPoint Mediation can prepare the documents in a format acceptable to the court including your separation agreement, parenting plan and asset/debt allocation spreadsheet.

MEDIATION

Come to our beautiful downtown Colorado Springs office to hold your mediation session. An experienced attorney/mediator will help you work through the difficult emotions and conflicts that inevitably come up at the end of a relationship. We offer phone and video conferencing to accommodate long-distance mediation needs. Our time-tested process clarifies issues and opens doors to finding a fair solution.

REVIEW AND FILING

FairPoint Mediation will send both of you documents that summarize the proposals and agreements reached during mediation. You can review these documents with your accountant or attorney and take as much time as you need. There’s no pressure to sign documents until you’re sure that you’re ready to proceed.

PUTTING KIDS FIRST

You want to minimize the impact of divorce or break up on your children. A skilled attorney/mediator helps you develop a parenting plan that is detailed, flexible and designed for success. Parenting disputes are one of the most common reasons parties end up back in court. We can avoid future stress and court expenses by crafting a better parenting plan up front.

CHILD CUSTODY MEDIATION

Unmarried couples end their relationships, too. If you have children, you’ll need to decide how to share parenting and child support responsibilities. Children whose parents cooperate generally adjust better to the break up. In longterm studies parents who mediate a child custody agreement report significantly less stress, enjoy more time with their children and improved communication with the other parent.
